Our Members

The Company Three vocal trio has been performing since 1991, traveling throughout California to sing for audiences from San Diego to San Francisco.  All three are residents of Whittier, California.

Cynthia NickellCynthia Nickell

Our guitar player, Cynthia Nickell, has been singing all her life.  After studying music theory and composition at University of California at Santa Barbara, she enjoyed the chance to tour the British islands with the USCB Chamber Singers.  Later, she performed with the San Francisco Chamber Singers, Oakland Symphony Chorus and the William Hall Chorale.  Cynthia wrote the title song for our holiday album, Remember What Christmas Is For, and has arranged several of our other favorite numbers.  Sometimes you can detect the influence of her barbershop-singing father in these arrangements.  We're so glad to have Cynthia playing and singing in our trio!

Carolyn ThiesenCarolyn Theisen

Our petite bass player, Carolyn Theisen, is the founding member of the Company Three Trio.  She and her sister started singing at an early age, appearing at school and community events as The Waitman Twins and entertaining audiences for a generation.  For many years, she was a member of The Present Company and performed throughout southern California with special appearances at the Los Angeles Music Center and featured as guest artists with the Huntington Park Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions.   Then in 1991, she discovered a very special blend of voices and launched The Company Three Trio.  "Collaborating with these fine musicians to bring our audiences the very best we have to offer is a real treat for me," she says.  It's great being in the trio with Carolyn!

Laura StoneLaura Stone

Laura Stone, who plays percussion and reed instruments, is originally from Wisconsin.  She earned her degree in oboe performance at Northwestern University and enjoyed participating in the special summer program by the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood.  Laura is also a very talented singer, performing with the Tracy Wells Big Band on special occasions in addition to The Company Three Trio.  Laura's third musical gift is as a teacher.  Not only does she provide private oboe lessons to budding musicians, but she also brings educational programs on musical instruments to many school districts in southern California.  You can hear her oboe talents in the Capistrano Valley Symphony, Indian Wells Desert Symphony and others, but we are delighted to have her share her singing talents with us.
